Lakshadweep is India’s coral island territory in the Arabian Sea – 36 islands with lagoons, white sand and some of the clearest water in the country. Only a few islands are open to tourists: Agatti, Bangaram, Thinnakara, Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy.
Visitors come either by flight to Agatti or on a ship cruise from Kochi, and an entry permit is compulsory for everyone.

Flights to Agatti suit a short island stay; the ship cruise from Kochi visits several islands and you sleep on board.
October – May: calm sea – best for lagoons, snorkelling and diving. June – September: monsoon – rough sea, ships and water sports limited.
