Route, passes and night halts
The tour leaves Manali through Solang and the 9.02 km Atal Tunnel, so there is no Rohtang permit to arrange. It follows the Manali–Leh highway over Baralacha La and Tanglang La, then uses Leh as the base for Nubra, Turtuk and Pangong.
From Leh the Srinagar highway (NH-1) runs west along the Indus to Lamayuru, over Fotu La and Namika La to Kargil, and over Zoji La to Sonamarg and Srinagar.

One-way tour: the tour ends in Srinagar, so the bikes travel back to Manali after you finish. We confirm the bike return arrangement and any one-way charge with your quote. Rental bikes registered outside Ladakh are generally not allowed for sightseeing inside Ladakh; enter your pickup point in the booking form and we will confirm the right arrangement.

This route is mostly tarmac with rough patches near Pang, on the Shyok road and on Zoji La. Any bike works; the Himalayan 450 is the most comfortable on the long days.

Ride with a group on a fixed date. Departures leave on the 1st, 10th, 18th and 27th of each month from June to September, while Zoji La and the Manali–Leh passes are open. Dates below are shown for the Classic Manali – Leh – Srinagar; the booking form shows dates for every tour.

What to bring
- Valid two-wheeler driving licence and a government photo ID
- Riding jacket, gloves, boots and a full-face helmet if you own one
- Thermals and a down jacket: nights at Sarchu, Pangong, Hanle and Tso Moriri are cold even in August
- Waterproof covers for luggage and phone
- Sunscreen, lip balm and sunglasses
- Cash: ATMs and card payments are rare outside Kargil, Leh and Keylong
Good to know
- Indian nationals pay the Ladakh environment fee (about ₹400 plus ₹20 per day). Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit, and Hanle and Umling La have extra rules.
- Fuel stations are far apart: fill up at Tandi, Leh, Diskit, Tangtse and Kargil.
- Zoji La can close for a few hours after rain or snow. We plan the Kargil – Srinagar day with a buffer.
- Mobile signal is patchy after Keylong; postpaid SIMs work in Ladakh and Kashmir, prepaid SIMs from outside J&K and Ladakh usually do not.
- Fuel, meals and permit fees are not included in the rates. Ask us what your quote includes.

How many days does the Manali – Leh – Srinagar bike tour take?
The classic tour takes 8 nights / 9 days and covers Nubra, Turtuk and Pangong. The grand tour takes 10 nights / 11 days and adds Umling La, Hanle and Tso Moriri. On custom dates you can add rest days or change the night halts.
How do I book a seat on a fixed departure?
Choose a fixed departure date in the booking form and pay ₹5,000 per rider as advance, online or after confirming with us on WhatsApp. The balance is paid on arrival, before the tour starts.
How much does the tour cost?
The cost depends on your dates, group size and the services you choose. Per-day rates: Royal Enfield Classic 350 ₹1,500; Classic 500, Himalayan 411 and KTM Duke 390 ₹1,800; Himalayan 450 ₹2,500; accommodation ₹1,750 per person; marshal ₹3,500 (₹2,000 plus ₹1,500 for the marshal's bike); mechanic ₹2,000; backup vehicle ₹6,000. What is the best time to ride Manali – Leh – Srinagar?
June to September, when both the Manali–Leh highway and Zoji La are open. July and August can bring rain on the Kashmir side; early September is often the most settled. We confirm road status close to your dates.
Why start in Manali and not in Srinagar?
Both work. Starting in Manali takes you up to Leh gradually with a night at Jispa. Starting in Srinagar gives the gentlest acclimatisation because Kargil (2,676 m) is lower than Jispa and Sarchu. If altitude worries you, look at our Srinagar – Leh – Manali bike tour.
Do I need permits for Nubra, Pangong, Hanle and Tso Moriri?
No Rohtang permit is needed because the route uses the Atal Tunnel. In Ladakh, Indian nationals pay the Ladakh environment fee and foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit. Hanle and Umling La have extra rules for foreign nationals, so tell us your nationality when you book.
How do I avoid altitude sickness on this ride?
The tour halts at Jispa (3,200 m) on the first night and has an easy day in Leh before Khardung La. Day 2 is a long climb over high passes, so arrive rested. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and tell the marshal at once if you feel headache, nausea or breathlessness.
