In Kashmir some sightseeing points can be visited only by the local taxi union – outside cabs are not allowed. In Pahalgam this is Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari; in Sonamarg it is Zero Point, Baltal, Fish Point and the war memorials. Can our own taxi go to Aru, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari?
No. Outside taxis – including ours from Srinagar or Jammu – are not allowed for sightseeing inside Pahalgam. Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari are visited only by the local Pahalgam taxi union from the Tourist Taxi Stand near Lal Kothi, at the fixed rates shown above. Our driver waits for you in Pahalgam.
What is the Pahalgam local taxi rate for Aru, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari?
For all three points together the union rate is ₹2,000 (Van) to ₹3,000 (Crysta) per vehicle: Swift Dzire ₹2,250, Ertiga ₹2,450, Innova ₹2,700, Crysta ₹3,000. Betaab Valley alone is ₹900–₹1,600 and Aru alone ₹1,000–₹1,800. AC is 30% extra.
How long can we stay at each point in Pahalgam?
The union fare includes about 1 hour at each spot. Extra time is ₹400 per hour for up to two hours; after that the full-day rate (₹2,900–₹4,500) is charged.
What is the Sonamarg union taxi rate to Zero Point?
The Sonamarg Sumo / Taxi Owners Union charges ₹4,000 per vehicle (return) to Zero Point on Zoji La, ₹2,000 to Baltal, ₹1,000 to Fish Point and ₹4,500 to the Gumri war memorial. The fare includes 1 hour of halt.
Do I need the Srinagar Dal Lake union taxi if I book a package?
No. In our Kashmir packages a private cab stays with you for the whole trip in Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam. Only the points inside Pahalgam (Aru, Betaab, Chandanwari) and Sonamarg (Zero Point, Baltal, Thajiwas) need the local union vehicle, which you can add in the package price calculator.
