Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to visit Spiti?
Mid-June to mid-October for the summer packages, when Kunzum La and the Chandratal road are open. From mid-December to mid-March choose the Winter Spiti Expedition, which goes in and out through Kinnaur by 4x4.
How cold is Spiti in winter?
Day temperatures stay around −5 to 5 °C and nights fall to −20 °C or lower. Bring thermal inner wear, a down jacket, woollen cap, gloves and snow boots. Rooms are heated with a bukhari or electric heater.
Can we see the snow leopard?
Kibber and Chicham are among the best places in India to look for the snow leopard in winter, together with ibex and blue sheep. Local spotters with a telescope can be arranged at extra cost; a sighting is never guaranteed.
Why does the winter tour go through Kinnaur?
Kunzum La and the Manali – Kaza road are closed by snow from about November to June, so in winter Spiti can only be reached from Shimla through Kinnaur along the Sutlej. The road stays open with snow clearance, and we use 4x4 vehicles with snow chains.
Which Spiti package should I choose?
Starting from Chandigarh: the 7N, 8N or 10N circuit through Kinnaur and Spiti to Manali and back. Starting from Shimla: the 7N full circuit back to Shimla, or the 7N one-way tour to Manali. Already in Manali: the 5N Chandratal and Kaza trip, or the 7N full circuit through Kinnaur to Chandigarh. In winter: the cab tour or the 4x4 self-drive expedition.
Is the price per person?
No. Every package shows the complete package amount for your whole group – hotels and camps, meals and a private cab for the whole tour – for your date, number of persons and vehicle.
Is a permit needed for Spiti?
Indian travellers only need a photo ID card at the Sumdo check post. Foreign nationals need an inner line permit, which we arrange on request.
How do I book?
20% advance confirms the booking and the balance is paid on arrival. Send your dates on WhatsApp or call +91-98162-56954.
